Privacy Policy

LetterGuide helps you understand official letters. It is built to keep those letters on your phone. This policy explains exactly what happens to your information, in plain words.
The short version
- Your letter is read into text on your device.
- Only that text is sent, once, to produce your explanation. We do not store it.
- Your explanations are saved only on your device.
- No account, no sign-in, and no analytics that contain your letter content.
What we process, and why
Letter images. When you photograph or select a letter, the image is used only to read its text, on your device. The image is not uploaded to us and is deleted from temporary storage after your explanation is ready.
Extracted text. The text read from your letter is sent one time to our AI provider to generate the explanation. This is a single, stateless request: it carries no account, no history, and no identifier tying it to you. We do not keep a copy. The text is processed by Anthropic, our AI provider, to generate the response; it is not used to train their models and is handled under their data and privacy terms.
Explanations. The explanation you receive is stored only in the app on your device, so you can read it again later. It is never stored on our servers.
Reminders. If you set a deadline reminder, it is scheduled as a local notification on your device. It does not leave your phone.
No account. LetterGuide does not require a name, email address, or sign-in to work.
Who else is involved
- Anthropic processes the extracted text to generate your explanation, then returns it. Governed by Anthropic's privacy and data-usage terms.
- Supabase provides the secure function that passes your request to the AI provider and returns the result. It is configured not to store your letter content.
- Apple and Google distribute the app and provide the operating system. Any purchase you make is handled by their stores; we do not receive your payment card details.
How long we keep things
We do not keep your letters or explanations on our servers at all. On your device, explanations remain until you delete them or uninstall the app. You can delete any saved letter from the app at any time.
Your choices and rights
Because your letters and explanations live on your device, you are in direct control of them: delete any of them in the app, or uninstall to remove them all. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data. For any question about your privacy, contact us and we will help.

LetterGuide is intended for adults and is not directed at children.
